The World of Harry Potter

Handwriting and Fine Motor Skills Boost
For boys and girls going into K – 3rd grade
By using sensory activities and FUN, students will learn and practice the correct way to hold pencils and crayons for maximum control and success. We will use a variety of activities approved by occupational therapists (trained in handwriting without tears) that you can practice at camp AND at home. Students will have many brain and movement breaks throughout their mornings at camp. Students will also go home with a special pencil grip and photos that show correct posture and grip options.

SAT Prep Class
For rising 11th-12th graders
During each session, students will receive instruction for the verbal and math sections and practice test questions. The purpose of this 12-hour SAT class is to offer test familiarity with the SAT, review math concepts and verbal skills expected on the SAT, and to reduce test anxiety associated with this kind of test. Although we cannot guarantee an increase in scores, test familiarity and practice strengthen that possibility. Students will rotate through a strategy session and sample test with Brad Thompson, math sessions with Julie Black, and verbal sessions with Kristy Alvarez.

College Writing Workshop
For rising seniors
Students will complete their college application essays. They will work on their college essay responses to the colleges of their choice with the guidance of Dr. Alvarez. They will get feedback and revision help with their essays before they are submitted with their college applications. They will also create a resume that they can use to request recommendation letters from their teachers.
