We are so thankful to be interacting and instructing our Vikings again, whether they are on-campus or at home. As we continue to explore ways to best support TEAM FPD to meet the needs of our students, we have added a few days to the calendar whereby students will not be required to attend school on campus. Teachers will use these days to collaborate, evaluate, and creatively enhance our on-campus and Distance Learning tools as they continue to serve students both in the classroom and at home.
Please review the following changes to the calendar.
New Teacher Professional Development Days & Off-Campus Distance Learning Days:
Teacher Professional Development Day / Student Holiday – Tuesday, September 8 (no on-campus classes or distance learning assignments)
Since this new professional development day is less than two weeks away, we are considering limited, on-campus childcare for our 3K – 5th grade students who do not have childcare alternatives for that day. If you know you will have a childcare need for September 8, please complete this form by September 1, so we can gauge the level of interest and determine next steps.
Student Distance Learning Day & SAT at FPD – Wednesday, September 23 (all assignments through DLP):
We are proud to announce that we are offering the SAT to our FPD students on campus. Many SAT sites cancelled their spring and fall tests, and some of our juniors and seniors have been unable to take the exam. This is critically important for some college admission processes; therefore, the College Board offered schools the opportunity to test their own students, on campus, on select dates. We selected September 23, and we are excited to provide this much-needed service for our Vikings.
In order to avoid any distractions for our students taking the exam, we must not have any classes on campus that day. All assignments will be given through our Learning Management Systems.
Added Teacher Professional Development Days / Student Distance Learning Days – November 11, February 4, March 3, April 16):
Grades 6-12: Assignments communicated through the Moodle Learning Management System. Students can log in at http://moodle.www.fpdmacon.org for their assignments that day.
Athletic practices/games and fine arts rehearsals will still be hosted after school as normal.
Grades 3K-5: Assignments will vary by grade.
Thank you for continuing to support and pray for TEAM FPD. If you have any questions or concerns, please email me at headofschool@fpdmacon.org.
