Given the increasing number of COVID cases in our community, the COVID-19 feedback we received from Viking Nation, and the recommendation by our FPD Medical Committee (FMC), we have decided to resume classes in a hybrid format for the first week after Christmas break.
These grades will resume their normal schedule, and we will continue to implement our successful safety procedures.
Masks are highly recommended for all grades and required for 6th grade.
As always, please do not send your student to school if your child has ANY symptoms of illness, has been exposed to COVID-19, or has tested positive for COVID-19. Contact Nurse Katie Collier if any of these situations pertain to your family.
Students will not participate in on-campus classes from January 6 – 8. Students will participate in classes via their
Distance Learning Platforms starting on January 6. Teachers will use January 4 & 5 as distance learning teacher planning days.
Students need to check their Moodle page on Tuesday afternoon, January 5, for further instructions. January 6 will be the last day of the first semester. January 7 will start the second semester. Students in grades 7-12 will return to on-campus classes on January 11, with a possible extension if decided by the FPD Medical Committee and Dr. Patterson.
Athletics, Extracurricular, and Center for Discovery Classes:
As an additional precaution to minimize exposure, all athletic, extracurricular, and Center for Discovery programs will be cancelled for the week of January 4. This includes team practices, meetings, games, and events. Likewise, students may not use any indoor athletic facilities. Tentatively, these will resume the week of January 11.
How families can help:
Please continue to keep our campus safe from illness by keeping students at home if they have any symptoms of illness, COVID-19 exposures, or are positive for COVID-19. Report these immediately to Nurse Katie Collier.
Safety is our top priority. We humbly ask that you do everything to keep your family safe including staying out of large group settings, wearing a mask, and practicing social distancing in order to minimize possible exposures. Our goal is to get back on campus and stay on campus. We believe this plan gives us the best opportunity to do so. Thank you for your support and Go Vikings!
